As the pope chose to resign, Finnish nuclear operator TVO saw the
window of opportunity to announce the annual further delay of
Olkiluoto 3 new build project a bit earlier than usual this year. The
EPR is now assumed to achieve grid connection in 2016, seven years
late of the original 2009 schedule and 11 years after the construction
started in 2005.
TVO cites lack of I&C system and not receiving proper schedules from
Areva as a reason for the delay. They pledge to "continue working with
the supplier to clarify the schedule of the project" meaning they
actually have no clue when and if it's going to get ready some day.
Looking forward to the traditional denial by Areva followed by further
cost increases, probably due latest August/September. At the moment
Areva says the price will be 8.5 billion euros while TVO for some
really strange reason says 6.4 billion.
